I recently stayed at a comfortable, clean, and family-run hotel in a small quiet town near the lake. The staff at Lario were incredibly friendly and helpful, and they all spoke good English. The breakfast they served was typical continental, but the real highlight was the excellent coffee from the proper coffee machine. The hotel also had a swimming pool, which was a big bonus, and it wasn't too cold either. I found it to be a comfortable and good value hotel, especially if you have a car.

During my recent stay at a hotel near Lake Como, I had the pleasure of experiencing the perfect human size between a typical "Albergo" and a bigger "tourist factory" hotel. The hotel's ideal location close to Tremezzo and Cadenabbia allowed for easy access to renowned villas Sola Cabiati and Villa Carlotta. The outdoor swimming pool and the charming garden in front of the hotel added to the overall relaxation. The hotel staff, especially Nicola, went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay, even accommodating late arrivals.

While the stay was nearly flawless, I did find one minor inconvenience. I had to pay to rent a towel for pool use, although the price was reasonable.

The restaurant options were somewhat limited and the food lacked flavor. there was no indoor seating area apart from the dining room.
